Troubleshooting

Quick answers to the problems people hit most. If yours isn't here, the Log panel at the bottom of the editor usually names the cause.

A node shows a red error

The node failed, and the preview shows the message. The rest of the run carries on where it can, so look at the first red node in the graph: later errors are often caused by it. Right-click the node to read its documentation, which describes what each input expects.

The chat assistant says a provider isn't set up

Cloud providers need an API key in the .env file. In the installed app it is %APPDATA%\EdgeWeave\.env, and the chat panel's hint shows the exact path. Add a line such as OPENAI_API_KEY=sk-...; EdgeWeave rereads the file before each message, so you don't need to restart. Ollama needs no key, but Ollama itself must be running. See the chat tutorial.

I can't install a package ("no isolated environment")

The project has no environment of its own yet. Open Code Editor > Packages and press Create one. See Python packages and environments.

A module's nodes fail with an import error

The module needs Python packages that aren't installed yet. Open Marketplace > Installed and press Add requirements to project.

A marketplace module won't install

Every module is scanned for security problems before any file is written. If the scan fails, nothing is installed and the message says so. A paid module also needs a licence: if you closed EdgeWeave during payment, press Buy again and choose Check for my license rather than paying twice.

A scheduled job didn't run

Scheduled jobs run inside EdgeWeave, so the app must be open when the job is due (a run up to five minutes late is still started). A Once job that has already run does not run again; use Run Now. The job's History shows each run and its log. See Run workflows on a schedule.

An exported script stops with NotImplementedError

The graph contains a node that cannot be exported, usually a custom node whose author marked it as unavailable. The comment above the failing line says which node and why. Shipped nodes all export. See Export a workflow to Python.

My projects disappeared after reinstalling

They shouldn't have: projects, installed modules and settings live in your user data folder (%APPDATA%\EdgeWeave), outside the install folder. Check that folder first. See Projects and workflow files.

Still stuck?

Check the features overview for where a feature lives, or ask the chat assistant, which looks up EdgeWeave's nodes, examples and docs to answer "how do I" questions.
