Python packages and environments

Some nodes need extra Python libraries, and your own code may too. EdgeWeave gives every project an isolated Python environment so adding a package for one project never changes another.

How it works

  • EdgeWeave ships with the libraries its own nodes use (pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, Plotly and so on).
  • A project environment is created for each new project. It inherits everything EdgeWeave already has, and anything you install goes only into that project.
  • When you run a workflow in a project, it uses that project's environment. A project without one runs with EdgeWeave's own Python.

The Packages panel

Open the Code Editor screen and choose the Packages tab on the right.

  • Install: type a package name (for example requests), optionally a version, and press Install. The status line shows progress and any error.
  • List: the panel lists the packages installed in this project, each with its version, and a button to remove it.
  • Reset environment: removes every package this project added on top of EdgeWeave's own. This cannot be undone.

If a project has no environment (older projects), the panel says so and offers Create one.

Packages that a Marketplace module needs

A Marketplace module may list Python packages it requires. They are not installed on their own. Under Marketplace > Installed, press Add requirements to project to install them into the active project. Do this for each project that uses the module.

Notes

  • Packages are installed with pip, so you need an internet connection to install them.
  • The environment lives in the project's venv/ folder, which new projects exclude from Git.
  • If something gets into a bad state, Reset environment returns the project to EdgeWeave's base packages.
